Agent Desktop Wrote It — Then Got Stuck at Save

What happened in the Short

Codex used Agent Browser to read the public docs, then Vercel Labs’ Agent Desktop read TextEdit’s controls, put a briefing into the text area and read back a revised paragraph, using the Mac’s accessibility information rather than screenshots. It got stuck at Save: it could read the dialog, but its visibility and focus checks blocked the action, so Codex’s separate computer controls saved and reopened the file.

This is the entire guide the Short promised, free with no email needed. The full guide has what each tool did, the Mac permissions, the documentation links and a prompt to paste into Codex or Claude so your own agent can set Agent Desktop up and test it.

The takeaway

Agent Desktop wrote and revised text inside a native app, but Save still needed another tool, so test it on a disposable document before relying on it.

About this article and its sources

Short companion prepared 7 November 2026 from the approved 58-second English Short and the full guide’s test notes. One attended test on one Mac with Agent Desktop 1.2 and Agent Browser 0.27; the linked full guide covers the limits in detail.
