Privacy policy
Last updated: 11 June 2026
This site, lukejbyrne.com, is operated by Byrne Media Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site. You can reach us at hello@lukejbyrne.com.
The short version: this is a portfolio site. We collect the minimum needed to reply when you contact us and to keep the site running. No advertising, no tracking cookies, no selling of data.
What we collect
- Contact and enquiry forms — your name, email address, your message, and which form you used. We use this solely to read and reply to your enquiry.
- Technical data — when you submit the contact form, your IP address is held briefly in server memory (around one hour) to limit abuse of the form. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) as part of running and securing the site.
- Theme preference — your light/dark mode choice is stored in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device and is not sent to us. See the cookie policy for details.
We do not collect special category data, and we do not use profiling or automated decision-making.
Why we can use it (lawful bases)
- Responding to enquiries — our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, and where relevant, taking steps you request before entering a contract.
- Security and abuse prevention — our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and preventing spam and attacks.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers (processors) to run the site. They only process data on our instructions:
- Netlify — hosts the site and keeps standard server logs.
- Resend — delivers contact form submissions to our inbox as email.
These providers are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. We never sell personal data and never share it with advertisers.
Third-party content and links
Video thumbnails on this site load directly from YouTube’s image servers, so your IP address and browser details reach Google when those images load — the same as loading any image from the web. No YouTube player is embedded and no YouTube cookies are set by this site.
We link out to other services — YouTube, Calendly, Skool, LinkedIn, X, our newsletter, and the products in the portfolio. Once you leave this site, their own privacy policies apply.
How long we keep it
- Enquiry emails — kept for as long as needed to handle the conversation and keep reasonable business records, then deleted.
- Rate-limiting data — held in memory for around one hour, then gone.
- Server logs — kept according to our hosting provider’s standard retention periods.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to our processing;
- receive your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email hello@lukejbyrne.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles personal data — for example, by adding analytics — we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes to cookies or tracking will be flagged by the cookie banner before anything is set.
