Leaving Cloud

And Giving Up...

Cloud: Are Companies Leaving the Cloud?

Or is it just another tech myth? Let’s break down the facts.

Why Companies Move to the Cloud?

  1. Forced Migration: Contracts for on-premises data centres expire, and companies see cloud as the cheaper option.

  2. Strategic Decisions: Leadership drives cloud adoption as a company-wide initiative.

  3. Flexibility: When done right, the cloud offers potential cost savings and scalability.

But the reality isn’t always simple. How you move to the cloud makes all the difference.

The Two Paths

  1. Lift-and-Shift

    • A quick “copy-paste” approach where you mirror your on-premises infrastructure in the cloud.

    • The Downside: Like parking your car in a pay-as-you-go car park, costs quickly spiral out of control.

    • Bain & Co. found that Lift-and-Shift can be 10-15% more expensive than staying on-premises.

  2. Cloud Native

    • This approach uses cloud-native services like APIs, Lambda, and scalable databases.

    • It’s efficient, but complexity can escalate.

    • Example: Amazon Prime’s microservices became so expensive that they returned to a monolithic architecture.

So, Is It Even Worth It?

I break the entire process down in my latest video, check it out:

Career: Just. Don’t. Stop.

I Quit YouTube… and That Was My Biggest Lesson.

Failure as Feedback:
After 8 months of posting 11 podcasts, 28 videos, and 60 shorts, my growth stalled at 154 subscribers. I didn’t stop because of the numbers; I stopped because I lost focus, motivation, and direction.

Time to Reset:
Sometimes walking away isn’t quitting—it’s regrouping. A year later, I returned with a clearer plan, renewed energy, and a commitment to consistency.

Momentum Follows Action:
3 months in: 1000 subscribers.
1 month later: 2000 subscribers.

The growth wasn’t just in the numbers. It was in the lessons: Start again. Stay consistent. The results will come.

Thanks for all the support.

The bigger we grow, the more people we help.

Where are you stuck right now?

Whether it’s a project, a certification, or a career pivot, taking a step back might be exactly what you need to move forward.
