Azure Data Engineering is Gone...
Do This Instead.
Microsoft just killed the Azure Data Engineer certification.
Why? Because Microsoft Fabric is taking over.
But here's the problem:
Fabric might be Microsoft's shiny new unified platform—with built-in data engineering, data warehousing, PowerBI, and even AI Copilot—but it’s still mostly in preview.
And if you search for Fabric jobs right now?
There are basically none.
Here’s what nobody's telling you:
Learning tools isn't learning data engineering.
I made this mistake myself—months spent clicking around Azure, mastering how to deploy infrastructure, but barely understanding real ETL, SQL, or relational databases.
I wasted so much time chasing certifications and tutorials, ending up stuck in tutorial hell.
Here's the good news:
If you skip the tools hype and focus on the fundamentals—SQL, Python, ETL—your skills stay relevant no matter how the tech changes.
In today’s video, I’m breaking down:
What exactly Microsoft changed with Fabric
Why chasing new tools is a waste of time
The exact roadmap I’d follow today to learn data engineering right (no more tutorial hell)
